The hot work is moved into the annealing oven to cool down from the working temperature to about 1000F and sit there for the rest of the day. The oven will be killed at the end of the day and the thermal mass will cause the entire oven and work inside to very slowly drop in temperature. This prevents cracking from uneaven cooling.
